Meyer's "Language Vessel," designed, crafted, and fired in Cape Town, South Africa, is part of a series of large ceramic cylinders of different sizes that reflect South Africa’s eleven official language as revealed in the most recent census. These are living language graphs representing ranges of languages from isiZulu, having the most speakers, to isiNdebele, with the smallest number of speakers. Though South Africa has eleven official languages, Meyer believes everyone has an artistic "twelfth language," his being clay, which is his preferred medium and means of communication.
