All exhibition pieces were created after 2020, and broach subjects such as identity, migration, land, heritage, and language. Essentially prompting a collective examination of what art can be in a post-pandemic world. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eLianca Heemro (1998), born and raised in the coastal city of Cape Town, South Africa, is a transdisciplinary artist whose artistic practice combines painting, installation, audio-visual and spatial art. In 2020, she graduated from The Cape Town Creative Academy with a BA in Contemporary Art. Heemro is very connected to interpreting social and cultural experiences - especially of her own, in order to tell stories. In 2021, she initiated an ongoing project, Ko re, which translates from khoekhoegowab as ‘look’ - the general concept which drives most of her paintings. Her painting project facilitates her interest in human cognition, perception, and memory archaeology. With family originally from Namaqualand, the background story of her paintings pay tribute to her cultural heritage.
